How To Survive Easter | My Top 10 Tips

Easter is this Sunday and that means most people are going to be surrounded by chocolate! If you are trying to lose some weight this time of year might not be your favourite. I have a few tips I want to share that will hopefully make this chocolate filled time of year a little less daunting. The aim of today is to give you some strategies to make healthy choices so you aren't fearing chocolate and you can enjoy your weekend.

Tip #1
Remember it is perfectly ok to have a treat! I talk endlessly about this and even have a whole blog post dedicated to the topic so you can find out more here.

 Tip #2
If you have a particular health goal you are working towards remember why that goal is important to you when making decisions. If you hold your goal with high importance it can be easier to make healthy choices.

Tip #3
If friends or family ask what you would like for Easter and insist on buying you something why not suggest a nice hand cream or bubble bath or even that they make a donation to a charity on your behalf.

Tip #4
If you do end up with a mountain of chocolate remember that it doesn't have to be eaten in the one weekend. Maybe space it out over the next few weeks or month (depending on how generous your friends and family are).

Tip #5
Don't be tempted to buy yourself Easter eggs when they go on sale after Easter Sunday. For all those bargain shoppers out there stay away from the sale section on Monday! The less chocolate you have in your house where it is easily accessed the better for your health goals.

Tip #6
You are allowed to say no, your family and friends won't mind if you decline a piece of cake or Easter egg. If you don't feel like eating it then it is perfectly fine to say no thank you. An important question to ask yourself is 'do I really want to eat this (Easter bunny, chocolate cake, potato chips)?' If the answer is yes and you have consciously thought it through then go ahead and eat it ('consciously thought about it' being the key phrase there).

Tip #7
If you have the option ask for quality (or your favourite) chocolates. If you are going to be treating yourself to Easter chocolate only in moderation shouldn't it be your favourite kind so you can have maximum enjoyment?

Tip #8
After Easter if you have a lot of chocolate lying around why not give some of it away or use it to bake something and give that away?

Tip #9
Easter is bound to be a weekend of indulgence so try and counteract this with planning a light meal here and there. Sunday means a big Easter dinner in your family? Maybe have a salad for lunch?  Maybe even a Southwest Chicken Salad?

Tip #10
Be confident in yourself that you are able to make decisions and follow through with them. The first step is knowing that you are able to take control and make healthy choices.

I hope these tips will make Easter more of a relaxing weekend for you. There is no need to stress about eating perfectly just do your best and enjoy spending time with family and friends.

I would love to hear your Easter tips if you would like to leave them in the comments!

Happy Easter,
Bridge
